I am writing to protest in the strongest terms about the continuing destruction of the Lake District by 4x4s and motorbikes in the Oxenfell, Tilberthwaite and Little Langdale areas.

 

Over 300,000 people have signed a petition, asking you to conduct a consultation on a Traffic Regulation Order to preserve the extraordinary beauty and tranquillity of this area.

 

Your action plan does not include such a consultation and delays the decision about a TRO until November 2019. This means that a TRO would not come into force until well into 2021 at the earliest.

 

This is not acceptable, and fails to comply with the standards of good practice set by other National Parks.

 

I now ask you to amend your action plan and hold a public consultation on a TRO before the end of 2018.
